East or west home is best. Mwamba Conservation Centre is home away from home. With a beach-front and a forest surrounding the centre it’s an amazing place to chill and hear the waves from your room.
The serenity, tranquility and warmth from the staff often makes one want to stay longer. On arrival you are greeted by the beautiful smiling Pauline, in-charge of hospitality who, after you’ve had a short break, takes you on an orientation tour around the place.
Fit for all
Meet a few of our guests from March and April 2018!
Juliana, a first time visitor got to know about Mwamba through Lonely Planet she was meant to stay for two days but ended up extending her stay. Read her review on Tripadvisor, and you’ll understand why!
Six month old Nashe, her mother Angela and her grandmother Emily came down from Nairobi for some restful days before Easter – and added life and joy to our community at Mwamba. Nashe swam in the ocean for the first time!
”We have had an amazing time, fun in the ocean and good conversations with other guests”, says grandma Emily Obwaka, who in everyday life is CEO of Teen Challenge Kenya. Angela works as HR officer for Life in Abundance International.
80 year old Ted had a special cake made for him on the 26th April as has been coming to Mwamba since 2004 and has helped out a lot with repairs and grounds work. Due to his old age and ill health, Ted doesn’t think he will get another opportunity to visit A Rocha Kenya next year. But we all hope to see him at least one more time. Having a grandfather and, for the little ones, a great grandfather around the place has been truly great.
This year we are also happy to have hosted several groups: students from St Andrews Turi, Rift Valley Academy, Woodland Star Academy and church youth leaders from Sweden who want to start A Rocha back home. It has been such a joy to have a full house.
Home for all
Mwamba not only offers you a place to relax. Being a conservation centre there are lots exciting activities that one is always welcome to join. Bird ringing, beach clean-ups, nature walks or school visits. The activities are optional but honestly you will not want to miss out on any of them.
Whether you are a first time visitor, a friend of a friend, alone, a couple or a group, Mwamba is always home for all.
